Work for a personal project on a matte painting (my very first one) with 3d, 2d and photo elements.
The theme is influenced by King Kong's Skull Island and the composition depicts an abandoned sacrifice temple in the middle of an island jungle.
Base models done in XSI, some rough sculpting in Mudbox and final detailing and passes rendering in ZBrush.
Later on, lots of tweaking and paint over of the rendered elements and the photo reference in Photoshop.
A couple of additional elements were done with Particle Illusion.
